Driven by design, specific fabrication techniques, and minimalism, Jessica Schlachter renders linear sketches into jewelry consisting of geometric forms that reference elegance, movement, and complement the wearer. No two pieces are identical because each piece is its own unique sketch.
Her formal training in design and metalsmithing in conjunction with her love of detail-oriented works have resulted in this modern, elegant jewelry line. Jessica primarily uses steel, sterling silver, and oxidized silver to provide enhanced contrast that accentuates the linear strength of the designs. Through welding she is able to include the mark of the construction as a focal design element. The use of wire allows her to incorporate numerous shapes into larger forms that are lightweight, yet have a presence of their own on the wearer. These materials and techniques also allow the geometry and composition of each piece to exist first and foremost not to singularly reflect the status of its materials.
Each piece is designed, fabricated, and finished by hand in her studio in Providence RI.
